The
message of salvation is so simple that many people miss it. Although we are physically
alive, we are spiritually dead. Because of this, we are
prevented from having a relationship with God. Since we
live in this mortal condition, we live by the desires of the flesh
which is contrary to the life that God wants us to live. The
things we do to fulfill these desires are called “sin”. The
Bible says, ”For all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God” Romans 3:23. Because you are a
sinner, you are condemned to die. “For the wages of sin is
death...” Romans 6:23. This means eternal
separation from God in Hell.
In
order to heal your relationship with God, you must be “born
again.” What does that mean? It means that you
must undergo a spiritual rebirth.
"Jesus
answered and said to him, ‘Truly,
truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the
kingdom of God.’ 4Nicodemus
said to Him, ‘How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter
a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?’ 5Jesus
answered,‘Truly, truly, I say to you,
unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the
kingdom of God. 6That
which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit. 7Do
not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’” John
3:3-7
What
do you need to do to become born again? You need to understand that you are a
sinner and that your sin separates you from God.
"If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us." 1 John 1:8
You need to know that God loves you and that He sent his Son to receive, on your behalf, God's punishment for your sins.
“For
God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal
life.” John 3:16
Confess
your sins directly to God and receive His forgiveness.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
“...if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;” Romans 10:9
It’s
not enough to say a few simple words, you must want to
live a Christ-centered life. Before the words even
leave your lips, God will have already blessed you with the promise
of eternal life because He has seen your repentant heart.
You may not feel anything right now, but as the days and weeks go by, you will find your life slowly changing as you grow closer to God through reading your bible and through prayer. What should you do now?
- Get a bible! Read it often and every day!
- Pray daily for yourself and for those around you.
- Get baptized.
- Become part of a group of believers who can not only be an example to you, but an encouragement as well.
- Seek
out others who may be searching for the Truth.
Here
are a few verses to encourage you as you take your first steps into
your new relationship with God.
“But
as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of
God, even to them that believe on His name” John
1:12
“Whosoever
therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before
My Father which is in heaven” Matthew 10:32
“Then
Jesus told him, ‘Because you have
seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and
yet have believed.’” John 20:29
“He
who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has
disbelieved shall be condemned.” Mark 16:16
Remember, you can never be “good enough” to
go to heaven. Your salvation was bought at a price and that price was the blood
of Jesus. It is through Him that you are saved, not through good works or
anything else that you can do to “earn” your way to heaven. It's not through
church attendance or prayer meetings. It's not through helping the poor or
fasting once a month. It is a free gift by the grace of God. Continue to seek
the Lord daily, obey the word of God and allow yourself to be drawn into a
closer relationship with Him.
“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8

We could not be perfect, so God our Father sent perfection to us through His Son Jesus Christ so that through His perfection, we can enter God's presence.
I look forward to seeing you when we are
once again reunited at the second coming of our Lord and King Jesus Christ!
When things get tough (and it will get tough) remember that your momentary
suffering doesn't compare to the blessings that await you in heaven! Stay strong.
Pray often. Rely upon the Lord.

"After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; 10and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’ 11And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,12saying,‘Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.’ 13Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, ‘These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?’ 14I said to him, ‘My lord, you know.’ And he said to me, ‘These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.’” Revelation 7:9-14
