The New Jerusalem

Jesus' seat of power during His millennium reign will be the New Jerusalem, which will descend from heaven after Jesus' second coming. Let’s start with one of the most awesome details about the New Jerusalem… it’s size. Believe it or not, the New Jerusalem is going to be 1,500 miles wide, 1,500 miles long and 1,500 miles high. That's HUGE! Think about it... that's satellite territory. It's true! Satellites orbit the earth both above and below that 1,500 mile range! It seems incredible, doesn't it? Now, if you go to Google Earth and plot a 1,500 mile trip across the U.S. you’ll be able to see just how wide this new city is going to be.

The walls of this city are going to be 216 feet high. That equates to the height of a 21 story building!!! That’s one huge wall!!! The wall is described as looking like Jasper. Jasper is sky-blue in color with hints of red and green. The wall will have twelve layers of foundation stones embedded with precious stones: Jasper, Sapphire, Chalcedony, Emerald, Sardonyx, Sardius, Chrysolite, Beryl, Topaz, Chrysoprasus, Jacinth, and Amethyst.

The city will have 12 gates, three on each side of the city. These gates will be constructed of one solid pearl each (now that’s one big pearl!!). Each gate will have inscribed above it the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. The only ones allowed to enter the city will be those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

The buildings and mansions in the city will be made of pure transparent gold and guess what…there will be a mansion for each of us!

In the middle of a transparent golden street there will flow the water of life which will come from the throne of God and of the Lamb. On either side of the river there will be a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. So, if we so desire, we can eat of its fruit.

There will also be a supernatural illumination of the city with the Glory of God lighting everything, since He will be living among us. No longer will there be day or night and no longer will there be any shadow.

This is just a brief glimpse of what the New Jerusalem will be like. I can’t wait to see it in all its glory as it descends out of heaven! Father, I pray that you send the Bridegroom soon!!!

My Thoughts Walking Home From Church

I was walking home from church yesterday and used the time to have a conversation with the Lord. As I approached an overpass, I commented to the Lord how level and straight the pathway was. “Is this how narrow the path is that leads to heaven Lord?” I commented how it was wide enough to allow me and one other person to walk comfortably side by side. As I put my feet upon the path, I thought more. Along side the overpass was a guardrail and a fence. I chuckled thinking, “There are no guardrails on the path to heaven, are there Lord? We can wander off the path any time we choose. It's not a wise choice, but it's one we can freely make.” Then I thought, “To go off the path here, I'd have to hop up on the guardrail and then climb the fence (that curved in at the top), so it would take great effort for me to get over to the other side.”

It's so much easier to veer off the path that God has placed us on, but the thought process is still the same and we give birth to sin.
  • Our mind is influenced or conceives the idea of leaving the path for something that tempts the flesh, whether it's anger, sex, substance abuse, lying, stealing, etc. Sin then arises when we don't rebuke that thought and take it captive in the name of Jesus.
  • We dwell upon those thoughts, inflaming our personal mortal desires and feeding upon our weakness and giving the enemy a stronger foothold, thus another sin feeds upon us as we begin this battle between hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit and the conflicting voice of the enemy.
  • When I was thinking of how I could get on to the other side of the overpass fence, I was reminded of how, when our thoughts are focused on the sin, we begin to develop a plan on how we can fulfill that sinful desire. Again, another sin is committed by actively planning how we can reach that goal of fulfilling our desire for sin. (“How can I get her to sleep with me?” “I could sell my XBOX to get another fix.” “How can I really embarrass her in front of her friends and make her feel small?” "I'm gonna snatch that guy's cell phone and run.)
  • We then sin by putting our plan into action, veering off the path (climbing the fence) and heading in the direction of our desire all the while blocking our the urging of the Holy Spirit to repent and flee sin's enticing pull on our flesh.
  • Then our desire is fulfilled. We have consummated our fleshly desire with the enemy's temptation and we are satisfied... for a moment.
Of course, all this occurred to me as I was crossing the overpass (and it wasn't a very long overpass...lol). It reminded me of this scripture found in James 1:12-15 "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

So, what comes next after we've climbed the fence and embraced sin? That depends on our relationship with the Lord. Do we feel convicted? Are we ashamed? Are we repentant? (or) Are we satisfied where we are... fulfilling our sinful desires? Do we believe we can remain in sin and still have a relationship with God? Will we find a compromise in our beliefs that allows us to sin and still claim we're true born again believers in Christ?

Many have fallen away because of compromise. Many have taken the word of God and have rewritten it in their heart to exclude conviction, hardening their heart to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Those who choose this have ventured on to another path and forfeited their place on the one true path to salvation and eternity in the glorious presence of the Lord.

Then there are those who consistently repent; who pick themselves up and crawl under the fence to place themselves at the feet of Jesus, begging forgiveness for seeking out the very acts that the Lord despises. Those with a truly repentant heart will receive forgiveness. They are gently placed back on the path that leads to blessing upon blessing and leads to a great reward. The promise of salvation awaits them, when they will receive their incorruptible and immortal bodies. The promise of living forever in God's glory, in His presence, in His love, in His kingdom awaits them. The promise of ruling with Christ for 1,000 years on earth awaits them. A mansion in the New Jerusalem awaits them. What a wonderful path to be on!

So we must understand that although we don't have any guardrails or fences along the sides of the path we're on, that doesn't give us license to wander off and do our own thing. We're on this path because God called us and we answered that call. We can just as easily find ourselves traveling down another path if take our eyes off Jesus. Stay strong. Keep the faith. When the enemy comes up along side the path and begins showing you those things that begin stirring up sin in your life, stop, rebuke him, get on your knees or on your face, seek the Lord and His strength. Then get up and let God be a strength to others through you and the battles He has fought with you. God causes you to mature with each battle you win and the more you grow in the Lord, the more He can use you to affect the lives of so many others.

God Bless!!!

False Flags Leading to Disarmament and Dictatorship

The Aurora and Wisconson shootings are just the beginning of the process that is occuring in this country.  The closer the election gets, the more frequent these false flag attacks will become until there is an outcry for gun control or total disarmament of US citizens.  This is a dangerous way of thinking.

Think about it:
  • First we start with the false flag/staged shootings.
  • Then comes an outcry to disarm all US citizens and a call for voluntary disarming is made.
  • It works, to some extent, but millions of people in the US own weapons and most will refuse to give them up.
  • The government then decides to use force to confiscate these weapons.
  • This leads to a shooting/civil war.
  • Since many police personnel and military personnel will refuse to disarm their friends, family and community, the US will be forced to call in UN forces (as per Article 15 of the UN Arms Trade Treaty) to help disarm the nation.
  • Once the US population is disarmed, the president will put all US troops under the command of the UN and at the same time give up our sovereignty to the UN.
  • At that time, the UN will divide the US into ten FEMA regions each of which will have many FEMA camps to be used to “re-educate” the populace.

To those born-again believers in Christ who are reading this, you understand why this is happening.  To those who are not born-again, this is only the beginning of the end of this nation.  There are groups of powerful people in this world who have been planning a one world government for the past few hundred years.  They have been very patient and it seems as if the time has come to make their final few moves.

I want to caution you; there will be more government sponsored shootings as the election gets closer.  What does the election have to do with this?  If the president calls for marshal law, the Constitution is automatically suspended and you can expect the election to be postponed indefinately.  Why would the president call for marshal law?  Well, because he’s not going to give up the presidency.  If he thinks he’s going to lose, he’ll create a false flag attack so serious (assassination attempt?) that he will call for marshal law and probably call for a total weapons ban.  The election will only take place if he thinks he can win.  If not, expect a false flag attack and marshal law before Nov 6th.  If he DOES win the election, then he doesn’t have to worry about running for the presidency again and he will lay the hammer down on this nation through the signing of a number of executive orders; Total gun ban.  National banking system.  Pulling back missile defences in Europe.  Putting the US forces under the authority of the UN.  Etc…  It’s going to be a mess.

One way or the other, there will be a one world government and the US is going to be a part of that.  Think it can’t happen here?  Look at the great empires that ever existed.  What happened to them?  Why should we be any different?  Capitalism will fall when the dollar crashes and we spiral into an economic disaster.  When that happens: How will people eat?  Keep their utilities on?  Get their medications?  Travel?  Dispose of their waste?  Protect themselves from rioters and looters?

The government will come in riding on a white horse as the country’s “savior” to bring order to the country and provide it’s citizens with their basic needs.  In effect, the state will become god.

The United States isn’t mentioned in the bible for a reason.  Our troops aren’t going to be under US control during the end times.  Our country will fall and be ruled by a dictator who will eventually be under the control of the Antichrist.

God has told us that this was going to happen; that the world was going to be ruled by the Antichrist, who will institute a one world government, a new economic system and a one world religion.

Call me crazy or a conspiracy theorist, I don’t care.  I’m awake.  I see what’s going on.  Are you awake or are you busy watching American Idol or Dancing with the Stars while all this is going on right under your nose?

The Story Behind the Obelisk in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City

The three-hundred-thirty ton Obelisk in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican City is not just any Obelisk. It was cut from a single block of red granite during the Fifth dynasty of Egypt to stand as Osiris' erect phallus at the Temple of the Sun in ancient Heliopolis, the city of “On” in the Bible, dedicated to Ra, Osiris and Isis. The Obelisk was moved from Heliopolis to the Julian Forum of Alexandria by Emperor Augustus and later from thence (approximately 37 AD) by Caligula to Rome to stand at the spine of the Circus. There, under Nero, it's excited presence maintained a counter-vigil over countless brutal Christian executions. Over fifteen hundred years following that, Pope Sixtus V ordered hundreds of workmen under celebrated engineer-architects Giovanni and Domenico Fontana to move the phallic pillar to the center of St. Peter's Square in Rome. Though worshiped at it's present location ever since by countless admirers, the proximity of the Obelisk to the old Basilica was formerly “resented as something of a provocation, almost as a slight to the Christian religion. It stood there like a false idol, as it were vaingloriously, on what was believed to be the center of the accursed circus where the early Christians had been put to death. Its sides, then as now, were graven with dedications to (the worst of ruthless pagans) Augustus and Tiberius.”

The fact that many traditional Catholics as well as Protestants perceived such idols of stone to be not only objects of heathen adoration but the worship of demons makes what motivated Pope Sixtus V to erect the phallus of Osiris in the heart of St. Peter's Square, located in Vatican City and bordering St. Peter's Basilica, very curious. To ancient Christians, the image of a cross and symbol of Jesus sitting atop (or emitting from) the head of a demonic god's erect manhood would have been at minimum a very serious blasphemy. Yet Pope Sixtus V was not content with simply restoring and using such ancient pagan relics (which were believed in those days to actually house the pagan spirit they represented) but even destroyed Christian artifacts in the process. The bronze for the statues of Peter and Paul came from the medieval doors of S. Agnese, from the Scala Santa at the Lateran, and from a ciborium at St. Peter's.

At the time Sixtus was busy reintroducing to the Roman public square restored images and statues on columns, the belief remained strong that these idols housed their patron deity, and further that, if these were not treated properly and even placed into service during proper constellations related to their myth, it could beckon evil omens. Leonardo da Vinci had even written in his Codex Urbinas how those who would adore and pray to the image were likely to believe the god represented by it was alive in the stone and watching their behavior. There is strong indication that Sixtus believed this too, and that he “worried about the powers that might inhabit his new urban markers.” This was clearly evident when the cross was placed on top of the Obelisk in the midst of St. Peter's Square and the pope marked the occasion by conducting the ancient rite of exorcism against the phallic symbol. On that morning, a pontifical High Mass was held just before the cross was raised from a portable alter to the apex of Baal's Shaft (as such phallic towers were also known). While clergy prayed and a choir sang Psalms, Pope Sixtus stood facing the Obelisk and, extending his hand toward it, announced “Exorcizote, creatura lipidis, in nomine Dei” (“I exorcise you, creature of stone, in the name of God”). Sixtus then cast sanctified water upon the pillar's middle, then it's right side, the left, then above and finally below to form a cross, followed by, “In nomine Patris, et Filij, et Spiritus sancti. Amen” (“In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen”). He then crossed himself three times and watched as the symbol of Christ was placed atop Osiris' erect phallus.

The Rapture in the Old Testament

Perhaps some of the strongest arguments in favor of a Pre-Tribulation or Pre-Seventieth Week of Daniel Rapture are found in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, we see "a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things" (Hebrews 10:1)

Prophetic Types in the Old Testament
The Holy Spirit explains that these Old Testament types are preserved for our learning:

"For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope" (Romans 15:4)

"Now all these things happened to them (Old Testament characters) as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon who m the ends of the ages have come" (1 Corinthians 10:11).

Bible students are well aware that there are numerous Old Testament types that foreshadow a New Testament fulfillment. A classic example is when Abraham took his son, his only son Isaac, whom he greatly loved, to the land of Moriah to offer him there as a sacrifice - concluding that God was able to raise him from the dead (Genesis 22; Hebrews 11:17-19). Abraham is a beautiful type of our heavenly Father, and Isaac, his beloved son, is a striking picture of Jesus, who willingly laid down His life on Mount Moriah 2,000 years later.

Though the Rapture was hidden in part from Old Testament believers, the types found throughout foreshadow a future Rapture when God will remove His people prior to pouring out His wrath on a Christ-rejecting world. Let's now review some of these beautiful types that foreshadow the Rapture.

The Noahic Flood
In Noah's day, there were those who passed through the flood (Noah and his family in the ark); there were those who perished in the flood (the unbelieving world); and there was Enoch who was "translated" or "caught up" before the judgment of God was poured out. Enoch walked with God (Genesis 5:24) and pleased Him (Hebrews 11:5), just as Christians who abide in Christ please God (1 John 3:22). Interestingly, from the time God told Noah to enter the ark, until the time when the waters of the flood were on the earth, God granted seven more days for the world to repent (Genesis 7:1-10). Perhaps this is a foreshadow of the final seven-year period culminating in the final judgment (Revelation 19:11-21)?

The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah
In Lot's day, he and his family were "removed" before God rained down His judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19). God did not just "preserve" them through His wrath, He removed them prior to judgment. Jesus said that just before His return, it would be like the days of Noah (Luke 17:26) and like the days of Lot (Luke 17:28).

Judgment in Sodom could not occur until Lot was removed (Genesis 19:22)! Remarkably, "while lingered, they took hold of his hand, his wife's hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city... Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there" (v. 16, 22). In other words, they were forcibly removed prior to judgment and judgment could not commence until they safely arrived in the new city!

The Story of Joseph
Joseph (a type of Christ in many ways) takes a Gentile bride before the 7 year famine begins (Genesis 41:45). Notice in the account of Joseph that after he received his Gentile bride, his brethren (the Israelites) and the entire world, suffered a seven year famine (Genesis 41:54-57). During this time of famine, many came to Joseph for food. Similarly, after Jesus receives His Bride, his brethren, the Jews (and many in the world), will turn to the Lord Jesus for relief (Revelation 7).

How fitting that the Great Tribulation is called "the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it" (Jeremiah 30:7). It is also referred to as "the time of the Gentiles" (Ezekiel 30:3), and many Gentiles will also be saved out of it (Revelation 7). The famine is a type of the Tribulation (Amos 8:11), and Egypt is a picture of the world. This account strongly suggest that Jesus will receive His bride before the 70th week of Daniel - before the famine that will come upon the entire world.

Rahab and the Jewish Spies
In Joshua chapter 2, Rahab trusts the Lord and befriends the Jewish spies. By faith, Rahab puts a scarlet thread in her window (a symbol of Christ's blood) and she and her family are "brought out" of Jericho before the city is burned with fire (Joshua 6). Rahab is a prostitute (Hebrews 11:31) and a Gentile woman (Joshua 2), yet she is found in the Messianic line (Matthew 1:5). Rahab is therefore a beautiful picture of the church as the bride of Christ. Though formerly a prostitute, Rahab, by faith, was made clean and delivered from God's wrath. Amazingly, in this account, we again see seven days of warning preceding judgment (God's gracious delay to encourage repentance). The armies of God marched around the city six days, and on the seventh day, they marched around the city seven times, and then the city was finally destroyed (Joshua 6)

Abigail and David
In 1 Samuel 25:39-42, Abigail is informed that King David (foreshadowing King Jesus) wants to take her as his bride. She immediately responds and "rose in haste" with five of her damsels to "depart" and go to David for the marriage. Compare this with Matthew 25:1-13 where five wise virgins who truly had oil went forth to meet the Bridegroom (Jesus) away from their dwelling place (earth). Interestingly, the name Abigail means "the Father's joy."

Solomon's Song
The Song of Solomon is an amazing picture of Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:29-32). In the Song of Solomon 2:8-13, the Bride (the Church) hears the voice of her Beloved (Jesus) coming for her. Then, in verses 10-13, the Bridegroom speaks and calls His bride to "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." This is a beautiful foreshadow of our marriage and honeymoon in heaven!

Isaiah's Hint
Isaiah 26:20-21 also gives us a possible picture of the Rapture preceding the Tribulation.

"Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, until the indignation is past. For behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; the earth will also disclose her blood, and will no more cover her slain."

Apparently, believers are tucked away in Heaven before the Tribulation falls on the earth. Could this also apply to the Jews who hide away in Petra during the Tribulation?

The Prophet Daniel
In Daniel chapter 3, King Nebuchadnezzar (a type of the Antichrist, cf. Revelation 13) demands that the entire population bow down to his image. Daniel's three friends (Jews) are preserved through the fiery tribulation, but Daniel is nowhere to be found. Daniel was "ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon" (Daniel 2:8), yet he is missing from the account. Why? Daniel was apparently away. Might he be a type of the Church? Three times Daniel is called "greatly beloved" (Daniel 9:23, 10:11; 10:19).

Zephaniah's Clue
In Zephaniah 2:2-3 we read:

"Before the decree is issued, or the day passes like chaff, before the Lord's fierce anger comes upon you, before the day of the Lord's anger comes upon you! Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord's anger."

According to this passage, believers will be hidden in the day of the Lord's anger (cf. Isaiah 26:20-21. See also Zephaniah 1:7)

Malachi's Hint
Malachi chapter 3 deals with the Day of the Lord. Interestingly, Malachi 3:18 implies two comings of the Messiah: "Then shall ye (believers) return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not." It becomes clear when we read the entire context of Malachi 3 that believers shall return to the earth. In order to return and discern, believers must have first been caught away to Heaven.

Other Examples
Isaac and Rebekah, as well as Ruth and Boaz, also provide beautiful pictures of Christ taking a Gentile bride - one who counts the cost and leaves their own family - but it is not required to suffer through great tribulation or famine. Other examples could be expounded on, but these should be sufficient to show that Christians will be removed before God's wrath is poured out and most likely before the 70th Week of Daniel.

LET’S PLAY “CASTING PEARLS” (What’s wrong with this game?)

There are only two rules.
Rule #1: Each contestant will be tossed several pearls.  If you catch one, you can trade it in for a fabulous prize!!!  A lifetime all paid vacation to a paradise island!
Rule #2: Although tosses are unlimited, your time is up when the game ends, so focus on getting that prize before time runs out!  Let’s begin!

Host: “Contestant #1, are you ready?”
Contestant: “Ready Bob”
Host: “Then here we go!!!”
(Several lustrous pearls are tossed to Contestant #1.  He desperately reaches for them, but misses the first few. He finally catches a pearl on toss #7.)
Host:  Wonderful!  You may now go claim your prize!!!
(Contestant #1 rushes from the stage in utter joy)

Host: Contestant #2, are you ready?”
Contestant:  “I sure am!”
Host: Then get ready for the toss!”
(The contestant catches a pearl on the very first try.)
Host:  That was amazing!  You may go claim your prize!
Contestant:  Well, I actually just wanted to play the game to see what it was like. This game was too easy. I think I’ll go on “Casting Coals” and get to paradise that way. It’s much more difficult and I think that by putting more effort into catching the coal, it will make my trip to that island paradise even more enjoyable.”
(Contestant #2 leaves the stage smiling and waving.)

(Time passes until we reach Contestant #6)

Host: “Contestant #6, are you ready?”
Contestant: “I don’t think I want to play, Bob.”
Host:  “Well, you’re already part of the game, so you’ll have to play before the next contestant can get their shot.”
Contestant:  “Nah, this game is stupid.”
Host: “But the prize is a lifetime all paid vacation to a paradise island of your choice.”
Contestant: “Yeah, I don’t believe there is such a thing as an island of paradise.”
Host: “Let me show you a picture of the island.”
Contestant:  “This could have been Photo-shopped.  How do I know it’s real?”
Host: “Let’s hear from someone who has been to the island.”
Contestant: “Let’s not. How do I know what they have to say isn’t just a bunch of fairy tales and lies?”
Host: “Here is a contract that guarantees you will receive the prize promised.”
Contestant: “So I play the game and win the “prize” and find out right after the show that there is a loop hole in the contract and it’s voided because I didn’t wear the right colored socks or something. No way.”
Host: “I refuse to let you pass up this wonderful prize! I will not go to the next contestant until I have convinced you to play the game.”
Contestant: “You’re an idiot.”

(As the host continues in his attempt convince this contestant that the prize is real and the game is worth playing, the other contestants wait. Some are getting tired and fall asleep; others begin talking about other game shows they’d like to be on, others leave the set and go home. Still, the host continues in his attempt to convince Contestant #6 to play the game.)

Okay, do we see the problem here?

Contestant #1 accepted the salvation message eagerly, and although the word of God was shared with him several times, it wasn’t until he was witnessed to the 7th time that he finally made his decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. The important part is that he was eager to hear the word, which was planted and continually watered until it produced the fruit of repentance.

Contestant #2 was eager to try Christianity, but the thought of just repenting of her sin and accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior seemed a little to easy for her.  She decided to reject Christianity and opt for another religion where the effort of performing good works and religious rituals lead to heaven.

Contestant #6 has no interest in the word of God or knowing who Jesus is.  Although he is offered the word of God, he continually rejects it, even to the point of calling the host an idiot.

What happened to the other contestants; the ones that never got the chance to play? Some fell asleep and never completed the game. Some left the studio and went on with their lives as if they were never offered the chance to play. Some decided to play other games; games that promised the same prize, but never had any intent on meeting their obligation.

The problem is that the host was so intent on getting a contestant to play the game, that he ignored those contestants who really wanted to play. The host was so convinced that he could change the contestant’s mind that he ignored his chief responsibility to get as many contestants to play the game as possible in the limited time offered to him. By spending so much time on Contestant #6, he neglected the other contestants and most never took the opportunity to play again.

That’s what it’s like in witnessing to the lost. There are those who eagerly accept the word of God and there are those who reject it outright. The problem I used to have (and many Christians still have) is that I used to spend a lot of time trying to use the word of God to show people that God is real and that they need to repent of their sin. Unfortunately, that took a lot of time away from other Christians who needed encouragement. It also took time away from those who were urgently seeking someone to answer their questions about salvation.

Look, Jesus gave us the perfect example on how to deal with non-believers who totally reject who God is.
  • Don’t cast your pearls before them (they’re just going to trash the word of God).
  • Shake the dust off your feet and walk away (if they’re not going to accept the salvation message, move on).
  • Let the blind lead the blind (if they’re intent on continuing in the same direction, let them go).
We can’t neglect the rest of the harvest just because of one person. The consequences of that is just too great. Jesus taught those who wanted to listen. I don’t recall any recorded incident in the bible where Jesus sat down with those who rejected God and tried to convince them otherwise. Jesus lets everyone make their own decision whether to believe and repent or to deny and remain in their sin. We must understand that having a human nature means that we take on much more responsibility than God wants us to have. It’s the Holy Spirit’s responsibility to convict the sinner. It’s His responsibility to convince the sinner of who God is. Our job is to spread the word of God with those who will listen. If they don’t want to listen, then we’re to move on, NOT double down and put a more concerted effort into trying to convince them of who Jesus is.

The enemy uses this flaw in Christians to delay them from coming in contact with those who are on the verge of repentance. He has convinced Christians that you can’t love the sinner if you’re so willing to just walk away, but that’s a lie. Our personal walk with the Lord is a witness. Our prayers for the lost individual is powerful! Lets not be deceived into believing that our one-on-one witnessing is the only way to share the the word God with those who have hardened their heart against the Lord.

So what do I suggest? If someone doesn’t accept the salvation message, offer to give them some information (tracts) or point them to a specific Christian web site. If they won’t accept the information, then let them know that you’re there for them if they have any questions. Always share the love of Christ with them through selfless acts, a warm smile, an offer of prayer in a time of need, etc…   That is a wonderful witness.

The most important thing is to get to the harvest and reap as much fruit as possible before your time here on earth is over.

Which "Ten Commandments" Do You Follow?

There seems to be two different versions of the Ten Commandments. One set is written in the protestant bible and the other set is written in the Catholic bible. Let's see what the differences are, and why there would be a discrepancy. After all, they're both supposed to be translating from the original Hebrew text. Full disclosure... I'll be using the KJV for all protestant bible references/quotes, and I'll be referring to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) for all references/quotes.

FIRST COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:2-3)

CATHOLICISM: I am the LORD your God. You shall not have strange gods before me. (CCC 2065)

SECOND COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)

CATHOLICISM: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. (CCC 2148)

Wait a minute! What happened to not making any graven images and not bowing down to them? Seems the second commandment was deleted and replaced with the third commandment. Maybe it’s just a reorganization of the commandments. Let’s continue and see if the commandment forbidding the creation of graven images shows up further on down the list.

THIRD COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (Exodus 20:7)

CATHOLICISM: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. (CCC 2174)

Okay, so now they have moved the fourth commandment up to the third commandment slot. Let’s continue.

FOURTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: 10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it. (Exodus 20:8-11)

CATHOLICISM: Honor your father and your mother. (CCC 2147)

Again, the commandment has been moved up from the following position to the current one.

FIFTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. (Exodus 20:12)

CATHOLICISM: You shall not kill. (CCC 2268)

Same situation. The sixth commandment has become the fifth commandment. If this keeps up, they’ll be short one commandment by the time we get to the end of the list, unless they’ve taken the commandment about not creating idols or bowing down to them and added it to one of the remaining five commandments.

SIXTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Thou shalt not kill. (Exodus 20:13)

CATHOLICISM: You shall not commit adultery. (CCC 2351)

We’re still in that same pattern. Let’s continue.

SEVENTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Thou shalt not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14)

CATHOLICISM: You shall not steal. (CCC 2409)

Well, we’re getting close to the end. The Catholic Ten Commandments still don’t line up with the exact order in the bible, but I’m more concerned about the missing commandment. There are three left. Let’s see if it appears down below.

EIGHTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Thou shalt not steal. (Exodus 20:15)

CATHOLICISM: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. (CCC 2476)

Nope, not yet. But Catholicism does have ten commandments. Hmmm…. let’s get to the ninth commandment and see what that says.

NINTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. (Exodus 20:16)

CATHOLICISM: You shall not covet. (CCC 2516)

Hold on!!! Although the tenth commandment has been moved up the the number nine position, it is incomplete! What Catholicism uses for the ninth commandment is actually half of the tenth commandment! Read on.

TENTH COMMANDMENT
BIBLE: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's. (Exodus 20:17)

CATHOLICISM: You shall not desire your neighbor's wife. (CCC 2516)

Ahhh... ok... there's the other half of the tenth commandment. So, in order for Catholics to continue to have statues of Jesus, Mary and all the “saints,” in order for Catholics to have a crucifix with a depiction of Jesus on the cross, in order to be able to bow down before statues and figurines of "saints" and to pray to Mary and the “saints”, the Catholic church had to kill the second commandment. That left them with a problem. How could you call it the Ten Commandments if there were only nine of them? Solution: Do a little rearranging and split the tenth commandment up into two individual commandments, thus creating a complete list of ten. Then you can just explain that there are various versions of the Ten Commandments and that this is the one that the Catholic church chose to use. That's the best excuse to give to the masses who follow a religious institution rather than following God. This is one of the reasons why Catholicism demands that the masses refrain from reading the bible. The more illiterate they are to God's word, the better the "church" can steer them in any direction.

If you're outsourcing your reading, studying, and understanding of God's word to the "church," then you're letting someone else lead you other than the Holy Spirit. Take charge of your own reading and studying of scripture, and lean onto the understanding given to you through the leading of the Holy Spirit. Remember, religion is just a set of manmade rules. Religion kills because it teaches you to rely on rules instead of understanding that it's by grace, through faith, that you are saved.

GA Pastor Andy Stanley: Don't Settle for 'Christian'

By Lillian Kwon , Christian Post Reporter
April 3, 2012|6:36 pm

What does it mean to be "Christian?" Given that the term is not even clearly defined in the Bible and draws a myriad of definitions from Christians themselves, influential pastor Andy Stanley is challenging believers to embrace a different, and more convicting, identity: disciple.

"Are we disciples? Or are we just 'Christians?' Stanley asked thousands at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Ga. "Don't settle for 'Christian.'"

Stanley just concluded his four-week "Christian" series this past weekend, exhorting attendees to fulfill the role that Jesus so clearly laid out for his followers: to love like he did.

While Jesus' instructions were clear, many believers are found hiding behind "Christianity," he noted.  To some, "Christian" means someone who prayed the prayer or a person who was baptized; others say it's not what you believe but how you behave; and then there are those who define Christians as "judgmental, homophobic moralists who think they are the only ones going to heaven," Stanley listed.

"One of the reasons that you can't get five people to define 'Christian' the same way ... is because 'Christian' is not defined in the New Testament," the megachurch pastor clarified.  The term is only mentioned three times in the Bible and it was a derogatory label created for Jesus' followers by outsiders. "Christians didn't call themselves Christians. They called themselves something far more terrifying, ... far more defined, ... far more convicting than 'Christian,'" Stanley pointed out.  They called themselves disciples.  And that's a word that's hard to dodge or misdefine, the pastor noted.

Disciples follow the command to "love one another" as Jesus loved them, Stanley stressed, citing the book of John. Jesus said, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
"If we had gotten this one teaching of Jesus right, our world ... would be a different and better place," Stanley said.

"We can all be Christians," he noted. But to love each other the way Jesus loved people, that places believers in a much smaller category.  Challenging believers to show a generous love to those around them, Stanley said, "How cool would it be to do a big rebranding campaign?"

But don't expect to try to change someone by loving them, he cautioned. "This isn't a means to an end. This isn't 'I'm going to fix you.' It's 'this is what it means to follow Jesus.'  "This is better than 'Christian.'"

Stanley took it a step further and exhorted those who follow Jesus to be the salt and light of the world. "Live your life in such a way that when people see your good deeds," they ask themselves "who is that generous?"

The North Point pastor challenged those who think, "I don't want to be the light of the world. I just want to be a Christian and go to heaven when I die. Leave me alone."  That is not what Jesus taught, he stressed.  "Jesus said I want your good deeds to be so extraordinary that people begin to connect the dots between your lifestyle and your Father in heaven," he preached.

"Some of you are just happy to be going to heaven [because] you're a Christian ... Jesus said 'I never called you 'Christian.' I'm telling you who you are. You're salt and you're light.  "Don't settle for 'Christian.'"
